A residential fire broke out early this morning on Jollie Street in Linwood.

Fire and Emergency NZ responded to multiple calls at 7.40am with three crews, including units from Woolston and Christchurch City stations, a spokesperson told Chris Lynch Media.

Upon arrival, firefighters found two apartments well alight.

Chris Lynch Media was told the fire has ‘completely gutted” the Kāinga Ora property.

Crews quickly worked to contain the blaze and successfully prevented it from spreading to neighbouring properties.

One fire crew remains on scene this morning, dampening hotspots.

Police assisted fire and emergency at the scene of a fire, there are no reported injuries.

The fire is now fully extinguished.
