Police have launched a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead at a property in Edgeware early this morning.

Police were called to a Purchas Street address just before 6am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Baillie said officers found the woman deceased when they arrived.

A second person who was at the property is assisting police with enquiries.

Baillie said police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death and there was not believed to be any risk to the public.

A scene guard remains in place and residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.

Police will also carry out reassurance patrols in the coming days as enquiries continue.
