A neighbour living beside the Edgeware complex where a woman was found dead this morning says the property had been the scene of ongoing antisocial behaviour.

Police launched a homicide investigation after being called to a Purchas Street address just before 6am.

The neighbour told Chris Lynch Media she was devastated by the woman’s death and said the incident had reinforced concerns she had held about activity around the complex.

She said the property was regularly the scene of loud parties, screaming and yelling, and described the behaviour as continuous.

The neighbour also said police had attended the property previously and described the complex as being well known to officers.

Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Baillie said police found a woman deceased when they arrived at the property.

A second person who was at the address is assisting police with enquiries.

Baillie said police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death and there was not believed to be any risk to the public.

A scene guard remains in place and residents can expect an increased police presence in the area.

Police will also carry out reassurance patrols in the coming days as enquiries continue.
