Christchurch dog owners are being encouraged to take advantage of a free drive-through clinic offering parvovirus vaccinations and microchipping today at the Christchurch SPCA.

The event runs until 3PM at 14 Wilmers Road, Hornby, with no booking required and no queue as of this morning.

The clinic is open to dogs aged over six months, and owners must present either a Community Services Card, Student ID, or Gold Card to be eligible.

SPCA staff will deliver the service directly to vehicles, meaning dog owners do not need to leave their cars.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease that affects dogs. Vaccination offers the best protection, especially in high-risk areas.

Organisers said the initiative is aimed at supporting community pet welfare and reducing the spread of preventable illness.
