Police have completed a scene examination at a Christchurch motel following the unexplained death of a woman.

As first reported by chrislynchmedia.com, emergency services were called to the Colombo Street motel about 3.20am on Saturday after reports of an unresponsive woman.

Despite efforts to help her, she was unable to be revived.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dan Overend said on Sunday afternoon the investigation team was continuing to make enquiries and was working to establish and trace the movements of the woman before her arrival at the motel.

“One person, identified yesterday, continues to assist us with our enquiries.”

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Monday.

“At this stage, police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death, which continues to be treated as unexplained,” Detective Senior Sergeant Overend said.

“Police will provide further updates as they become available.”
