Two youths arrested, another on the run following aggravated robbery in Burnside

Two youths has been arrested following an aggravated robbery at a shop in Burnside.

Three youths entered a store around 8pm last night near the intersection of Kendal Avenue and Charlcott Street with a weapon.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch Media the group threatened the staff member at the counter and stole the till and left the store with various items they had taken.

All three left the scene in a stolen vehicle which was found a short time later abandoned on Tralee Place, Bishopdale.

The occupants fled on foot and two were located at an address on Reynolds Avenue.

Fortunately, the worker at the store was not seriously injured during this incident but is understandably shaken.

The two young people that were arrested have been charged with aggravated robbery and unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle.

Both appeared in court today, one in the Christchurch District Court and the other in the Youth Court.

Police are actively investigating to identify and locate the third person involved.

A scene examination has been completed and enquiries are ongoing.
