One person is in custody following an Armed Offenders Squad callout in south Christchurch this morning.

A police spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com there was a callout on Strickland Street, Somerfield.

Opawa residents who made contact with this news site said parts of Opawa Road had also been blocked off by the AOS.

Police said, “A person reported being threatened by another person in possession of an alleged firearm. One person is now in custody. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
