A person has been injured after being assaulted on Harewood Road in Christchurch.

A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com, police received a report of an assault around 1.35pm.

One person is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported to hospital.

Police, Fire and Emergency Crews, along with a St John ambulance and rapid respond unit were sent to the scene at the Harewood Road, Gardiners Road, Breens Road intersection.

Another person has been arrested.

Police continue to make enquiries into the matter, the police spokesman said.
