A person has died in a crash between a school bus and a car in Waimakariri.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Broad and Harleston roads shortly after 3.30pm.

The person who died was an occupant of the car.

A police spokesman said “there are no reports of injuries to passengers on the school bus.”

A St John spokesman said seven resources have been dispatched, including three ambulances, two rapid response units, a helicopter and an operations manager. 

Ambulance officers are treating several patients. 

Motorists are asked to please delay travel or to take an alternate route.
