A person has died in a single vehicle crash on Mouse Point Road, Leslie Hills, Hurunui.

Police were notified of the crash at around 8.30am and the person died at the scene.

The road has reopened following a scene examination.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing a spokesman said.
