Police have confirmed two people died in the two-vehicle collision in Titri, Otago this afternoon.

Police were called to the scene, on State Highway 1 between the intersections with Titri and Bungards Rds, about 12.15pm. 

Two people died at the scene.

A further four people were transported to hospital, three in a critical condition and one in a serious condition.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing a police spokesperson said.
