Limited services at City Mission as investigation into fatal stabbing continues

The operations of the Christchurch City Mission will face disruptions on Tuesday, due to ongoing police investigation into the fatal stabbing at its emergency men's night shelter on Sunday night.

Christchurch City Missioner Corinne Haines said police will spend a second day at the locked down 276 Hereford Street site on Tuesday.

That means the City Mission's foodbank will continue to only provide food parcels for booked-in clients but will not accept new clients.

"There will be no men's day programme and no onsite consultations can be held with our social workers or alcohol and other drug counsellors.

“A number of our men's night shelter clients have been found alternative accommodation but we will continue to provide beds in an another area of our complex for those who have nowhere to go.”
