Three teenage girls have been injured, one seriously, in a fiery crash in Lyttelton.
Emergency services were called to Sutton Quay just after 1.10 AM, a police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com.
A nearby worker said three 17-year-old occupants had been driving through the tunnel in a Nissan Skyline at extremely high speeds.
“They skidded through the roundabout and crashed over the bank, ending upside down at the bottom. The car then burst into flames,” he said.
One of the occupants was ejected from the car.
A St John spokeswoman said they sent two rapid response units and a manager to the scene.
