Emergency services are at the scene of a crash involving a van and a truck in Burnside this afternoon.

A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com officers responded to the crash near the intersection of Greers Road and Memorial Avenue at about 4.15pm.

Witnesses told Chris Lynch Media the driver of the van was trapped inside the vehicle.

A St John spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com an ambulance responded to the scene.

The spokesperson said one person was in a serious condition, while another person suffered minor injuries.

Police are advising motorists to expect delays and avoid the area while emergency services remain at the scene.
