Seven people have been injured in a crash near Castle Hill.

Emergency services were called to West Coast Road, State Highway 73, near Lyndon Road at 3.30pm.

New Zealand Transport Agency said motorists could expect delays due to the crash.

Two rescue helicopters were called to the scene.

A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com seven people received injuries and were transported to Christchurch Hospital.

A witness at the scene said the accident involved a campervan and two other vehicles.
