Rangiora High School fundraiser cancelled following robbery at Kaiapoi pub

A fundraiser for Rangiora High School has been cancelled after the venue it had hired was robbed overnight.

In a statement posted online Rangiora High School said “it is with regret that we inform you that tonight's RHS PTA Fundraiser, Card Bingo has been cancelled.

The school had received a message from The Kaikanui Tavern in Kaiapoi saying it had been robbed.

A police spokesman said “police received a report of a burglary at commercial premises on Williams Street, Kaiapoi about 9.15 am.

The burglary occurred sometime overnight.

Police were in the initial phase of an investigation and are assessing the case.

Enquiries were ongoing the police spokesman said.
