Darfield Police have uncovered drugs, ammunition and weapons after a regular patrol in Selwyn.
Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Irvine said police saw a known offender driving while suspended on West Coast Road about 1.30pm yesterday and signalled for the driver to pull over.
The driver fled, accelerating at speed on the highway and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Police did not begin a pursuit because of the manner of driving, but followed at a distance to the man’s home address.

Irvine said police found skid marks over the gravel driveway and the vehicle parked out the back, with the engine and tyres still burning hot.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a large amount of drugs, before specialist staff and a police dog unit helped search the property.
Police seized three cannabis plants, LSD, 500 grams of cocaine, steroids, a box of .22 and shotgun ammunition, and a high powered taser.
