A person has been rushed to hospital following a stabbing incident in Halswell.

A police spokeswoman said they were called to Caulfield Avenue at 3.25PM because of a fight between two people.

They are known to each other at the residential address.

A St John spokesman said they responded with an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle. 

“Ambulance officers treated and transported one patient to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.”

A person has been taken into custody the police spokesperson said.
