There has been a large house fire in Kaiapoi overnight.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they were alerted to the blaze on Ohoka Road, Kaiapoi just before 10pm.

There are no reports of injuries, and no one was believed to be in the house at the time of the fire.

“We received multiple 111 calls, and crews attended from both the Kaiapoi and Woodend stations, with further backup called in from Redwood”, they said.

A two-storey house was on fire, with crews taking nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze.

The spokesperson commended nearby properties on Ohoka Road for responding quickly to the fire and alerting emergency services.
