Two people have been injured in a single vehicle crash near the Hanmer Springs Road intersection on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A police spokesman said they were called to the crash at about 2.15pm.

A St John spokesman said they responded with a first response unit, an ambulance and an operations manager.

Ambulance staff treated two people before transporting them to Christchurch Hospital.

One patient was in a moderate condition and the other was in a minor condition.

Mouse Point Road was blocked while emergency services worked at the scene.
