A person has been seriously injured in a crash involving a car and truck on Christchurch’s Southern Motorway.

A police spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com the crash happened about 3pm today.

NZTA said in an update at 4.20pm that State Highway 76 remained closed to westbound traffic near the Curletts Road on ramp.

Queues on State Highway 76 westbound had extended past the Burlington Street intersection, with motorists being warned to expect significant delays.

Motorists were being advised to avoid the area.
