A scrub fire in the Selwyn district has largely been contained.

Fire and Emergency crews were called to the rural property at Charing Cross just before 4PM.

Crews from Burnham, Coalgate, Hororata, Kirwee, Darfield, Rolleston, Rakaia and West Melton were called to the scene along with a command unit which was set up on Wards Road.

A helicopter with a monsoon bucket was also helping firefighting efforts.

The fire was brought under control at about 5.20PM.

No one was injured
