A man has been arrested following an armed police call out in Papanui.
The surburb was swarming with armed police officers in a number of streets.
A police spokeswoman said cordons have now been stood down and a 26-year-old man has been taken into custody.
He is facing serious assault/family harm charges.
Earlier police were standing outside a residential address on Winters Road.
A resident who lives on the street said police officers were at the same address on Wednesday.
