Emergency services are responding to an incident at Lyttelton Port.

Chris Lynch Media understands two people suffered burns aboard a vessel while working in an engine room.

A St John spokesman said a helicopter, an ambulance, an operations manager and a rapid response vehicle were at the scene, with another ambulance on the way.

Local Fire and Emergency crews are also attending.

A Lyttelton Port Company spokesperson said “We understand an incident has occurred on a berthed vessel involving a crew member. No Lyttelton Port Company staff were involved.”
