Police are investigating reports of gunfire in a quiet residential cul-de-sac in Christchurch on Friday morning.

Senior Sergeant Hamish Keer-Keer said Police were first advised of the incident in Linwood at approximately 6.30am.

No injuries had been reported, and officers remained at the scene.

An eyewitness, who described the location as Bromley, told chrislynchmedia.com there was a large police presence in their street.

“There was a shooting early hours in Bromley today, lots of police presence.”

The street is a modern residential cul-de-sac.

Police have not confirmed the circumstances surrounding the reported gunfire. Keer-Keer said enquiries were continuing.
