Police are investigating an after hours assault at Burnside High School on Sunday evening.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Simmons said “police received a report on Monday of an assault that had occurred the evening before after hours at a school in Burnside.”

She said officers were reviewing CCTV footage and working with the school as part of the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 105 and reference file number 251124/4105, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Burnside High School addressed wider after hours issues in a message posted to Facebook:

“Hey, locals. If you see our gate is shut off Guildford Street, it is because of a spate of anti social behaviour. Our lower fields are being damaged by vehicles, we have had broken windows and signs damaged after hours. The Police are following up our video footage, but the gate will be closed from 3pm to 7am until further notice. Thanks for your support.”
