A person has been seriously injured in a crash involving a motorcyclist and a car in Christchurch’s central city.

A police spokesman said the crash on Fitzgerald Avenue was reported to emergency services at 4:25pm.

A St John spokesman said they responded with a rapid response unit and an ambulance.

A patient was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.

Police were conducting traffic control duties.
