Emergency services are at the scene of a serious dog attack in the Christchurch suburb of Aranui.
Chris Lynch Media understands an infant has been mauled by a dog at a residential address and suffered critical injuries.
A St John spokesperson said an ambulance, an operations manager and three rapid response vehicles were sent to the scene.
Fire and Emergency crews and police officers are also at the address.
The spokesperson referred further inquiries to police.
A police spokeswoman confirmed they were attending a serious incident on Basingstoke Street.
“There is no risk to the public, but cordons are in place as emergency services work at the scene.”
A resident said police had blocked off the street.
“There’s a huge fire, ambulance and police presence,” the resident said.
