A person has died following a two vehicle crash on Main South Road in Selwyn.

Emergency services were called to the crash just before 7.30am near Telegraph Road.

A police spokesperson said one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

Police said they were investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Main South Road was closed while emergency services responded but has since reopened.
