A person has died after a two vehicle crash in Rangiora this afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison said the crash happened on Percival Street about 12.45pm.

“Despite the best efforts of first responders and emergency personnel, one of the drivers died at the scene.

Police are providing support to their next of kin.”

Another person was treated for moderate injuries.

Ellison said the road had since reopened and enquiries into the cause of the crash were ongoing.
