A paraglider has suffered serious injuries after crashing on Christchurch’s Port Hills this afternoon.
A St John spokesman said they were notified of a light aircraft incident in Heathcote Valley at 3:15PM. Two helicopters, one ambulance, and a first response unit were sent to the scene.
“Our crews assessed and treated one patient, who was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition via road,” the spokesman said.
A police spokesman confirmed they were alerted to the incident but did not attend.
Conditions were believed to be favourable for paragliding at the time, with light winds reported.
