Fire and Emergency crews have been called to the scene of a serious crash in North Canterbury.

The accident happened on South Eyre Road in Eyrewell Forest at 7.10PM.

A Fire and Emergency spokesman told Chris Lynch a vehicle has crashed into a large hedge.

He said one person is trapped in the vehicle, and fire crews are trying to rescue the injured patient.

A police spokesman said there are at least four people in the vehicle.

The road has been closed.

It’s understood road conditions are extremely icy, and contractors have been called to grit the road.
