More than 1,200 properties are without power in North Canterbury following an ‘unplanned outage’ on Thursday evening.
According to MainPower, 1,215 customers in Woodend and Pegasus lost power at approximately 6.13pm.
The outage is affecting parts of the wider Waimakariri district, with MainPower advising it is aware of the issue and crews are working to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible.

At this stage, there is no estimated time for power to be restored.
MainPower said anyone with information that could assist should contact the company on 0800 30 90 80.
