A man has been rushed to hospital after being attacked by a group of people in New Brighton.

A police spokesperson said police responded to reports of a disorder where a number of people assaulted one person around 12:30pm.

The attack happened on the corner of Seaview Road and Shaw Ave.

Chris Lynch Media understands one of the offenders was carrying a baseball bat.

A witness said they saw a man covered in blood talking to police officers.

A St John spokeswoman said they were notified of an incident in New Brighton, but were stood down by police prior to arrival.

Police transported one person to hospital with a head injury the police spokesperson said.

“No complaint has been forthcoming to Police.”

It’s understood the offenders left the scene in a car.
