A man in Aranui has been arrested after police observed him acting suspiciously on Eureka Street.
A Police spokesperson says the person fled from police but was located a short time later on Wimbornce Crescent and arrested.
An Aranui resident told Chris Lynch Media she witnessed police chasing the man, who came into her backyard at about 6.20pm this evening.
“He walked right past my son twice and jumped multiple fences absolutely terrifying us.
“The police dogs were out hunting him down. A high police presence around the whole neighborhood, a lot of people are very much on edge.”
The 27-year-old man is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow on a range of charges.
