Man arrested following incident on fishing boat in Lyttelton

A man has been arrested following an assault on a fishing boat at Lyttleton Harbour.

A police spokesperson told Chris Lynch Media police were notified of the incident at about 4.10pm. 

One person was taken into custody following the assault.

Eyewitnesses said at least eight police cars were called to the Sealord fishing vessel including a police dog handler.

A Lyttelton Port worker said Police Armed Offenders Squad was also called to the vessel.

They reported seeing a man with handcuffs on, being led away by officers and placed into a police vehicle.

No one was injured.

Sealord confirmed to Chris Lynch Media the incident took place but couldn’t comment further due to the arrest.
