A man has been rushed to Christchurch Hospital after crashing his car on Lincoln Road.
A police spokesperson said the multiple vehicle collision happened at 4.45pm and one person (understood to be the driver) is in a serious condition.
A local resident said the car rolled into a parked car near Domain Tce.
She said there were multiple police at the scene, one fire truck, and two ambulances.
Another driver said the car went through red lights “and I sorted stopped in the middle of the road at the lights and watched it going down the road just thinking what the f*** – then I looked back and police were coming only seconds behind.
“I pulled onto the side of the road and got out to look back and could see that the car had crashed.
Another witness said the car was speeding “extremely fast” down Lincoln Road.
Another witness said “speeding alright they were flying.”
“I just picked my son up from my mum’s after work. & I live on Lincoln road”
“The lights at Lincoln and Lyttleton street had just turned green for us to turn right into Lincoln road. We were two seconds away from being right in their path. I’m still shaking.”
The road will be closed while the Serious Crash Unit examine the scene.
