A cyclist has died following a crash involving a car on Dyers Pass Road in Governors Bay, Christchurch, on Friday morning.
Senior Sergeant Chris Wakelin said police were notified around 10.20am. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Our thoughts are with their loved ones during this difficult time.”
A St John spokesperson said the service responded with one ambulance, one rapid response unit and one operations manager.
Dyers Pass Road is closed between Summit Road and Governors Bay Road. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes and expect delays.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised, and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
