Two youths have been arrested in Wainoni, following a stabbing in Shirley this afternoon.
As first reported by ChrisLynchMedia.com the incident happened on Joy Street at around 3.25pm.
A police spokesman said the victim was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
“I can confirm two youths were located and taken into custody in relation to the assault on Joy Street this afternoon”

St John said they responded with an ambulance and two rapid response vehicles.

A commercial helicopter was called in to help police locate the offender’s vehicle, which was spotted in a number of areas in Avonside and Dallington.
One of the youths was arrested at a Bickerton Street house in Wainoni.
Chris Lynch Media understands the youth was handed over to police by his mother.
In a separate incident, as police searched for the offender who stabbed the victim, Christchurch Superintendent Lane Todd said six youths were arrested and charged with burglary and unlawfully taking a vehicle.
“This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Anyone who chooses to engage in this behaviour can expect to be held to account,” Todd said.
