Update: The car and trailer have now been found!
A Christchurch man is offering a $2000 reward for the complete return of a racecar and trailer stolen outside his house.
Jason Atkins said the Honda Civic Race Car (pictured above), along with his trailer, was stolen last night from his property on Mathers Road in Hoon Hay.
He said it was last seen speeding along the Northern Motorway heading out of the city at around 6pm.
“My wife, who was in front of me tried to raise their attention, there were definitely two people in the car, one was a passenger with his black hoodie up.
“It was being towed by a light or champagne coloured Hilux Surf, which had no lights on.”
A motorist also reported seeing the stolen car and trailer, confirming the back lights of the Hilux weren’t working, heading north towards Kaiapoi.

Jason said the car wasn’t running at the time of theft and was missing the exhaust system.
“They managed to drag the trailer backwards off my property after cutting it free, which clipped my house and smashed part of my fence.”
Jason says he last raced the car in September last year, at a 24 hour race for fun and charity at Hampton Downs.
“We are planning to do it again this year with our five drivers, we are really hoping it’s returned safely.”
