A man has died after a crash involving a car and motorcycle in Christchurch on Tuesday.

Emergency services responded to a crash on Pound Rd at 5.35am.

Part of the road was closed while emergency services attended the scene.

The motorcyclist was transported to hospital and had been in ICU for the past two days.

The man passed away as a result of his injuries police said.
