A motorcyclist has been injured after crashing into a fence near Darfield this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch the crash happened on Clintons Road, just before 3.50PM.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said they responded with one ambulance and assessed and treated one patient.

The patient suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Christchurch hospital.

Police say the rider suffered a knee injury.

The road was not blocked off.
