A local bottle store owner is assessing the damage to his business after three offenders broke in early this morning.

Security footage shows the group smashing its way into The Bottle-O on Main South Road at about 2am, apparently undeterred by a 24-hour petrol station operating across the road.

The offenders allegedly used a grinder to break through the store’s roller doors before stealing cigarettes and expensive bottles of alcohol.

A fog cannon was activated during the burglary, but it was not enough to stop them.

The owner told Chris Lynch Media he believed the offenders were young people, two males and a female, and said there appeared to be few consequences for such crimes.

Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison said police inquiries were continuing.

“Enquiries to establish the circumstances of the burglary and identify those responsible are ongoing.”
