Police are seeking help to identify two people after an electric trike was stolen from outside Northlands Shopping Centre, leaving its owner without his independence.

The trike was allegedly taken from outside Woolworths on Main North Road, Northcote, shortly before 3pm on Thursday 23 July.

Its owner, Julian, has cerebral palsy and relies on the trike to get around.

Police said the theft had significantly affected his daily life.

“Since it was stolen, he has lost his independence,” police said.

Investigators have released photographs of two people they believe could assist with their enquiries and are asking them, or anyone who recognises them, to come forward.

Police have been unable to identify the pair through the registration plate of the moped they were using.

“Police would love to get Julian’s trike back to him, and we believe these two people could assist in our enquiries,” police said.

Anyone with information that could help identify the pair or locate the stolen trike is asked to contact police through the 105 phone service or online, quoting file number 260723/9966.
