A person has been seriously injured in a two vehicle crash in North Canterbury this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Lineside Road and Fernside Road in Flaxton at 3.40pm.

A police spokesperson said two vehicles were involved.

Fire and Emergency crews were called after initial reports a person was trapped in one of the vehicles.

A St John spokesperson said two ambulances and an operations manager were sent to the scene.

“Our ambulance staff treated one patient and transported them to Christchurch Public Hospital in a serious condition,” the spokesperson said.
