Air New Zealand has confirmed schedule changes, affecting about 4 percent of flights as jet fuel prices continue to rise.

An Air New Zealand spokesperson said, “Due to the ongoing impact of high jet fuel costs, Air New Zealand has made a small number of schedule changes for travel across May and June.”

The spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com “most of our domestic network has seen only minor adjustments, with a small number of ports such as Hokitika, Timaru, Taupō and Rotorua remaining unchanged to maintain connectivity.”

The airline said only around 1 percent of passengers would be affected, with most still travelling on the same day.

“Customers will be notified from 9am Tuesday, with all notifications completed by the end of the week.”

The spokesperson said the changes were smaller than reductions seen elsewhere in the New Zealand market.

“Some airlines are reducing capacity by more than 10%.”

Air New Zealand said fuel costs had more than doubled, increasing pressure across the industry.

“We’ve made further increases to some airfares to help manage this.”

Customers whose new flight times do not suit can request a refund or credit.

“If you don’t hear from us, your flight is operating as scheduled.”
