A woman has been injured in a violent aggravated robbery in Hornby.

A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com police responded to a report of an aggravated robbery at a commercial premises on Main South Road at 7.30PM

Chris Lynch Media understands a female shop attendant at The Weirdos Adult Store was injured during the ordeal involving youth offenders, where a weapon was used.

It is understood she was injured while being dragged into a store room by the offenders.

The female shop attendant managed to flee the scene and raise the alarm.

The offenders stole a number of items before fleeing in a stolen vehicle.

A St John spokesperson said the victim was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a moderate condition.

The police spokesperson said officers were making enquiries into the incident.
