A central city worker fears someone will be killed if those responsible for throwing planter boxes and other large items off a car park building aren’t caught.
The worker told chrislynchmedia.com she returned to her car on 12 March and discovered another vehicle on Nurseryman Lane had been badly damaged by a fallen planter box. The entire roof was caved in, with significant damage to the windows.
“I’m now pretty scared to walk around my own workplace now. Someone could be killed if this continues and they’re not caught” the worker said.
Footage sent to chrislynchmedia.com shows one of the incidents unfolding at the Innovation Carpark on Madras and Lichfield Streets.
The worker said police were called and surrounded the building just after 6pm, but no one was apprehended.
She said there had been at least five similar incidents.
The planter boxes were removed, but have since been returned and are now secured to the building.
Christchurch Metro Area Response Manager Inspector Paul Reeves said police were investigating the incident.
