A man has died following a serious house fire in Sydenham.
Emergency services were called to Korimako Lane just after 3.30PM.
A police said “one person was transported to hospital in critical condition, where they sadly passed away.”
“Enquiries into the circumstances of the fire are ongoing.”

The fire occurred at a rear unit of an Otautahi Housing Trust property.
Multiple Fire and Emergency crews attended to scene.
The fire was quickly put out by firefighters.
Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust general manager tenancy Robert Hardie said “We are saddened by the death of our tenant following a fire at our community on Korimako Lane and our sincere thoughts are with their family, whanau, friends, and neighbours at this very difficult time.
“Our team has been onsite and will return in the morning to further support our tenant community.
“We understand the fire occurred in a single, upstairs one-bedroom home and that neighbouring homes were not affected by the fire.
“We understand the cause of the fire is being investigated and we assist Fire and Emergency New Zealand and Police as we can as a landlord. We are unable to comment further while this investigation continues.”
