A Christchurch mother has described the terrifying moment a man fired a BB gun at her car while her baby was in the back seat.
The woman told Chris Lynch Media she was turning onto QEII Drive from Innes Road around 12.20pm on Monday when a man in a red ute began yelling at her from his vehicle.
“He started throwing rocks and bottles at my car before pulling out a handgun and firing two shots at my vehicle,” she said.
“One missed and one hit my passenger door. The police were called and I was told the man had been arrested, but I haven’t had any updates since then.
Thankfully both me and my infant daughter, who was also in my car, are ok.”
The mother said there was only minor damage to her car, but the ordeal left her shaken.
Police confirmed to chrislynchmedia.com a man was taken into custody following the incident.
At around 12.30pm on Monday, officers received a report of a person allegedly discharging a BB air gun from a vehicle towards another vehicle on Queen Elizabeth II Drive.
There were no reported injuries, but police said the victim was understandably shaken.
The offender was located and arrested a short time later without incident.
Police said charges are being considered.
